The first Dark Lord travels to Unknown Space

So I have given this lots of thought, and taken into consideration everything. I created the Dark Empire of the Sith in March 2009 with my Cousin, and that's really important because I started -[DE]- with family. Before Jedi Knight Academy I was always a console gamer, playing with close friends irl and lately I have gone back to my roots.

My Cousin showed me Jedi Knight Academy to impress me with a newer Star Wars game and from then on I tried everything to get my hands on my own PC to play it at home. Eventually I did get a computer and got Jedi Knight Academy asap.

I was writing a Star Wars Fan Fic at the time with the leader of the Sith Empire being Darth Apocalypse, the exact inspiration for my JKA name and the Clan itself leading to what we have here.

Now that I've been semi-inactive on Jedi Knight Academy and looking back objectively, I've become very proud into how the Dark Empire has unfolded over all these years. I am grateful for everyone who joined and took part in this great Clan. At the same time, I have come to see that I've invested so much time into it and that I'm not sure I can invest much more without it negatively affecting my life.

Thus I announce that I, founder of the Dark Empire, Dark Lord of the Sith, am going to retire from Jedi Knight Academy and step down from being the Dark Lord.

Darth Martyr is going to be appointed the new Dark Lord of -[DE]- and have full dictatorship with Darth Calamiir at his side as the only remaining Dark Council member. I trust they will continue DE's legacy for a long and prosperous while.

- Personally, I'd like to thank Darth Martyr for being at my side throughout damn near the entire life of -[DE]-, for going out of his way to make sure -[DE]- stayed alive through thick and thin and to never falter away. You've been a great deal to the Dark Empire since 2010 when you brought me out of inactivity and helped me revived -[DE]- as it almost fell flat on it's face after Bane. You've earned the leadership.

- I'd also like to thank Darth Calamiir for coming out of the blue, sticking with -[DE]- despite having every reason to leave it during one of it's droughts and then from that helping -[DE]- grow better than ever before. The organization skills and effort into making this a more professional foundation can not be duplicated.

- My closest Apprentices Lord Sidarious and Warrior Blackout, I want you to remember that I've had several apprentices in -[DE]- throughout the years but you two were the best and brightest of them all. You've brought many great memories I'll never forget in our time together on several games. You've both made -[DE]- proud!

- and a shout out to everyone who has ever taken interest in the Dark Empire by joining it and committing your time to make it the best Jedi Knight Academy experience that all their servers have to offer. You know who you are!

So this makes a last farewell, I am officially retiring and may continue to stop by on occasion to say hello and see how this Clan is developing but will no longer have a major role within it's leadership. I will now be known as a Former Dark Lord of the Sith thus keeping the Darth title indefinitely. With that said I can not express enough the influence all of you have had on me and I will miss you all.

Goodbye, Dark Empire

It saddens me to hear this news, but I understand why. I won't forget the first day I connected onto the -[DE]- server. I was 9-years-old and tired of jumping around from clan to clan in hopes to find one I could call home. My first day you called me some name that made me laugh. You were skeptical about me at first, but you still took me in. From there we grew a strong friendship that cannot be replaced by anything. In a way you are like family, as everyone else in this clan is to me, but you are one of the few that are closest. We were like father and son, and we literally took it to that level playing around calling each other "father" and "son". The memories we made are stuck in my head, never to be destroyed, because they are precious. The laughs, the trolling noobs, all of it. And you've taught me almost everything I know about JKA, and now here you are leaving. The knowledge you have given me won't go to waste. It will be passed down from member to member. I will tell future DE members of the great Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Apocalypse and how much he meant to me. I will miss you dearly friend. I hope to see you around.

Darth Apocalypse,

I will always be proud of what we had at -[DE]-. We are likely the only clan ever in Jedi Academy to fully enjoy all aspects of the game including the competitive sabering, movement, and just the Star Wars world that it was based in.

Apart from saying that I am at a loss for words... I joined up with this clan in late 2010 and never once found a reason for why I shouldn't be in DE. It was always just us enjoying JKA. Whether it was mp/ffa3, sithcouncilv2, racearena, or that Boonta Eve Classic map, or the TJA map, or Sith Sanctuary, or Shola... the list goes on and on and on and on... we were always there as a group of Siths enjoying what Star Wars had to offer.

When I think about Star Wars, I don't think about the movies. I think about JKA, and it's all because of our little dedicated group of gamers called the Dark Empire of the Sith.

So Apoc, I want to say thank you for giving all of us something no other clan could really offer. I hope that you have a bright (or should I say Dark) future ahead of you wherever it takes you.

Your Sith Knight,

You mean Hotdog5555*, and those words mean a lot Radiuks. It's great hearing how positive of an influence DE has made for everyone.

Wow. That hits hard. I can personally never give enough thank for you going that random server one day and meeting me and Defcon. I've made so many memories and friends too. This community has been amazing and you were the single reason for any of it. Im sad to see you go and I can say that me, Defcon, and Blackout owe you our respect for pulling us in. Good luck in your life pal

I'll never forget the first time I met you on the server. I had been playing with Martyr and Sidarious for about a month and then I got on one day and they were like, "meet our Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Apocalypse." And you were just standing there like a badass. I was a bit more intimidated than I should have been but I was like "oh shit...this is the leader....I bet he's a god at JKA..."

And sure enough you were. Tongue

Then I added you on Xfire because that was the thing that DE used back then, which made me laugh. You messaged me once trying to get to know me but it didn't really amount to much. A few months later, I became staff at JKHub and started to learn a lot more about web design and management. I created my own personal website and all that. So then every time I would go to DE's old site, I would cringe and think "this site is soooo old, no wonder people don't use it"

A year later, after pestering Martyr to make DE active again by letting me making a new website, he finally told me to ask you. I was like, "but...he'll say no instantly! He has no idea who I am! Tongue" But I did anyways. At first you were really hesitant. Kept asking questions if it was worth it and if I could stick with it and pull it off. You eventually gave the green light, and work had begun. From that moment on, we worked closely to get the site to where it is today.

Here's an example of the process that usually took place:

Apoc: Can we make so-and-so like this?

Circa: I can probably do that. *spends hours trying to figure it out*

OR

*Circa joins server with the rest of DE*

Apoc: COIC
Apoc: You need to update my showcase

*Circa disconnects*

Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue

It was a blast learning all that I did for the site though, and I loved that you actually knew what you wanted me to do and still gave me freedom and listened to my ideas. As far as a web design client, you have been by far the best to work with.

I'm gonna keep rambling. I'm a Darth, so you can't stop me.

The fact that I joined this clan in 2013 and became a Dark Council member in less than 3 years is crazy to me. I joined, became Acolyte under Martyr. After about 2 months of being active I was made Adept. I began working on the new DE site as an Adept! Tongue So you then promoted me to Knight for my work. But you didn't stop there. Apparently you were really wanting me on the Dark Council all along, and is why you kept nagging me to get better at JKA. I'm still shocked you made me council even now, because of my lack of skill. But you always have said that leading a clan in JKA isn't just about skill, it's about being a good leader. And I appreciate that.

Anyway, this place won't be the same without you, that's for sure. We are all taking it hard in that sense. DE will continue but it will always feel empty without our Dark Lord Apocalypse leading us.

Expect a memorial to be made in your honor in a map soon.
I designed and manage this website. Consider throwing me your money.
